very nice!

which raises the question, what's planned for 2.0? :-)

suggestion: make everything that's hardcoded configurable.

Two ideas:

  1. Different story-layouts (preview und full) per topic. So you can give every topic a special story-layout (different logos for example, as seen at php-nuke, postnuke etc.)

  2. Differentiation not only in writing-rights but also in reading rights. So the Admins and Contributors can discuss questions about layout, functionality etc. just within the log (in special protected topics for example) without bothering other subscribers.

Re: Two ideas:

<warning>I'll now think loudly about new features that might take very long to implement. Don't be afraid, it's just brainstorming.</warning>

I'm all for #1, sounds very useful. To make this more powerful, I'd like the whole site to change when you view/enter a topic. Offering a few skin sets from which the user may choose would also be nice, e.g. a simple one-column layout for mobile devices vs. a sophisticated, stylish layout for desktops.

#2 also sounds interesting, this could be very powerful combined with my suggestion above. I would like to be able to have a grid with any number of customiseable user roles (i.e. "Admin", "Contributor", etc. aren't hardcoded, but you can add "Customer" or "Teacher" if you want) in one dimension and a list of all possible activities (delete a story, change a skin, write a comment, ...) in the other dimension. In this grid, I would like to be able to select who may do what. In order to implement #2, story-reading rights could be defined per topic.

Re: 2. (reading rights)

To make a story readable only to admins and content managers, you can save it offline. Antville currently doesn't support managing/displaying offline stories very well, but it soon will. If you mark the offline story as "editable by all contributors", it will be visible to contributors, too. Basically, some of this is possible right now, but it's tricky and in an embryonic state and not very nice. It will get better soon, though.

SQL in antClick

i'm missing an SQL create tables file in antclick. don't you need that for mcKoi, or are you just using the internal DB?

................

AFAIK Mckoi does not have the tools to create a database from an SQL file. At least that's what I thought when I created the antclick tables manually, one table at a time. However, you should find an up-to-date Mckoi SQL file in antville CVS. I just checked and found the file is inside apps/antville/db_support.zip in the antclick distribution.
