we should

drop style sheet code embedded into every single page of a weblog and instead turn to linked stylesheets by using the @import directive.

what do you think?

I started a weblog to manage translation of the Antville user interface to as many languages as possible. Please check it out. I wonder if we should/could link this on the antville front page so that the people we want to see this are more likely to stumble upon it?

Open skin templates

Maybe this could be usefull for others too. Or at least I say it would be a very usefull extra in the skins department.

What I mean is 3 or more open templates that can be filled in as the user wishes.

someting like this: <% usertemplate1 %> etc. etc.

What do you think ?

Getting Antville out to the people

I know of a few people who are waiting for a release version of Antville and Helma, and they're in the very uncomfortable situation of not having any clue when to expect that. Since my feeling is that we're pretty much there, I propose we commit to release new preview versions of both Helma and Antville early next week. I think we are far enough to be able to guarantee a smooth transition from that release to what will be the final Helma 1.2 and Antville 1.0.

Here's what I think should be in that Antville release:

  • My content-as-XML hack
  • Robert's new DB schema (Robert, would you like any help with that?)
  • All the db fields we know we'll need
  • Either HSQLDB or Mckoi as embedded database
  • The new ultraliberal Helma license
What do you think? (This posting is inteded as much for those waiting for an Antville release as much as it is for those putting it together. So you, yes you: if you are interested in running your own Antville server, either just to play around with it or to do something serious, please chime in and let us know what you'd like to see.)

PS: early next week would be [monday..wednesday].
