xhtml pleeease

if you modify or add markup to any skin please check if it does not hurt the xhtml specs either by following these simple rules or even better by using the w3c html validator – at least the part you have modified/added, since not every skin has been transformed to xhtml, yet.

thanks for listening.

btw. up to now, i was validating against xhtml 1.0 only which already resulted in a bunch of error messages for most pages. now there's also the option to validate against version 1.1 which returns even worse results... should we do it with 1.1, anyway?

oops

i assume that goes in my direction ;-) sorry, i didn't want to torpedo your efforts towards xhtml-compliance.

regarding xhtml 1.1: i'd vote for bringing antville towards xhtml1.0 compliance, then go on.

argh!

it's getting worse: just noticed that neither <wbr /> nor <nobr /> tags are valid xhtml... does anybody know of a smart replacement? via css?

yes

it's css1 white-space.

i see.

thank you. white-space obviously can replace <nobr /> tags and nowrap="nowrap" parameters, but it does not provide a feature to set possible line-breaks as <wbr /> does... or does it?

we are using this in antville, e.g. to break long urls like the one you posted above and i shamelessly edited to avoid breaking the layout.
