antville.org and www.antville.org Wouldn't it be nice, to have one linking scheme ? On www.weblogs.com antville.org and www.antville.org get around 35 hits each. According to Nielsens usability guidelines www.useit.com you should also stick with one URL.

i assume you're right. but according to nielsen we should dance and sing more, too... seriously, afaik antville.org is always redirected to www.antville.org. and the weblogs.com top 100 are built by parsing links of individual weblogs, ie. something we hardly can (and definitely don't want to) control. we could disable antville.org but for the sake of laziness i disapprove this idea. btw. we once enabled urls like www.project.antville.org after this was requested by some users. one day we all will meet in usability heaven, anyway.

@tobi You may be right, but the antville.org URL mainly comes from the default template using this URL to link to antville. So changing this (for new antville weblogs and downloads) to www.antville.org a lot of URLs would be corrected. And I like to sing and dance :-)

i was able to find two occurences of antville.org in default skins at antville.org: one is commented out, the other contained by a text file (which means that the text of this thread contains about five times as many occurences than antville's default setup :) maybe you let me know which "default template" you are talking about because otherwise it looks like that i don't get it.

For example on this project weblog, there is a image at the bottom right which is linking to antville.org: <img src="www.antville.org" width="107" height="24" alt="resident of antville.org" border="0"> I assumed that this link and image was part of the default template, because it's on every antville weblog I read. And I guess the hits to weblogs.com come mainly because of this image. The hits for helma.org clearly come from the "Powered by helma" link.

ok i see it's true, this is a default setting. we will think about it. thank you, anyway.

I fixed that a long time ago for the exact same reason. In the CVS version, the antville logo macro links to www.antville.org instead of antville.org. ... comment
