Antville Project

restart at approx. 10 a.m.

serious outage today morning. sorry in the name of the antville team.

i did not know how to help myself (or: antville and the antville users, resp.) but to restart the helma installation at adele.

however, the problem obviously was apache. so i restarted it, too. at the moment antville.org seems to be ok again, but i don't know how long it will remain that way.

apologies from my side, i am not up-to-date concerning the changes at the back-end. maybe somebody else can help more efficiently.

Re: restart at approx. 10 a.m.

no need to apologize. you are all doing a great job.

apologies noted but not needed at all

just wanted to say thanks for the home - occasional lockouts during renovation come with the territory. thank god it wasn't too long... it's cold out there! :)

Hm,

time-out

well, a time-out can happen with any action you invoke at antville.org if there is a high load (which currently is the case very often). should not be related to the image type imho.

Update Suggestion

I've done a HEAD www.antville.org --> 200 OK Connection: close Date: Fri, 13 Dec 2002 06:26:43 GMT ETag: "qUfPf0ElLiWggcCiVqb/cw==" Server: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) mod_jk/1.2.1 Content-Length: 10044 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Servlet-Engine: Jetty/4.1.4 (Servlet 2.3; JSP 1.2; java 1.4.1) My Suggestion: Upgrade your Apache HTTP server to version 1.3.27 due to a bunch of security issues in earlier versions and use mod_jk without DSO for performance reasons and use a stripped down version of Apache without any more modules that you really need. This saves alot of memory and removes some DSO realated performance issues (approx. 5%). Worked for me on some heavy traffic sites which also utilize Apache.
