There was a short downtime during which I updated the code running on antville.org to the latest CVS snapshot. This might bring some relieve to our performance woes.

I also fixed a problem with non-ASCII characters (for instance ü, ö, ß etc) that was caused by the JDBC driver. Stories and comments posted earlier today that contain broken Umlauts must be edited to be fixed.

Following the downtime/upgrade you may have seen error messages mumbling something about "high object traffic (tried 8 times)" when posting a story or comment. These should be gone now.

Asynchronous logging of referrers and page counts does work well, but I had to increase the scheduler invocation frequency to once every 3 5 seconds. Otherwise, hundreds of story objects would have been locked by the scheduler which would cause the error messages above.
