Editing defaults As there seems to be much more going on here than in the help weblog I ask my question here. I have looked into the preferences and into the skins but could not find a way to change the default status when creating a new story from offline to online. This surely must be possible. I can't imagine all people with public weblogs on antville change the status from offline to online each time they post. Is there a simple explanation or is it a difficult skin/macro editing thing? Great weblog tool BTW.

default status is "offline" it's a fact. but you should be able to hack your way around this by replacing the <% this.online as="editor" %> macro in the "form for creating/editing a story" skin by a custom select tag (did not try it out myself, though): <select name="online" size="1"> <option value="0">offline</option> <option value="1">online in topic</option> <option value="2" selected="selected">online in weblog</option> </select> robert, would a default parameter make sense?

Thanks Tobi Great, it works, I am seriously considering moving permanently to antville soon. Have a nice week-end. Here in Frankfurt the weather looks quite good right now.

btw, you can completely hide these parameters check eleph or alo.

yes but then you can't effectively use the offline feature (which is an important one) so this is not a solution.

whether the "offline" option is important or not depends on the site. if it was important for me i would not have removed it.

i wasn't referring to your solution but to tobi's. I guess yours is alright as a workaround for what you want and need.

huh? you can't effectively use the offline feature how does that refer to my solution? i think you surely and effecticely can use the offline feature with it. now i am confused...

overwriting the default? i haven't tried it, but i guess in your solution "online in weblog" is always selected. now the last selection is displayed, i.e. when you edit an offline story it is "offline" and not "online in weblog". i don't think it's a big problem, but it's certainly not nice (provided my guess is right).

i see yes, when editing an offline story the pop-up will indeed show "online in weblog". certainly annoying. ... comment

Yep, I hate that too The default setting when creating a story should be "online in weblog", me thinks. ... comment
