suse 8.1 & java 1.4 you mentioned problems with suse 8.1 and java 1.4. can you confirm these problems or was it the damaged memory that caused the crashes here on antville.org?

The problem was most definitely the damaged memory. With the new chips, we've been running Java 1.4.1_02 on Suse 8.1 for over a week. However, at least with Java 1.4.1_01 and earlier, you shouldn't use the Server virtual machine (-server option). Also see Michi's messages: helma.org helma.org ... comment
