also how did you manage to upload animated gifs? i reported problems before and they still remain. i see only the first frame if i upload animated gifs. is this a mac-only issue?

probably has to do with resizing when the image is resized, the animation is lost. If these images were uploaded by antville (as opposed to by FTP) it means that not resizing preserves animations.

strange i though it may be related to my image form which forces downsizing and thumb creation by default, but it is not. it doesn't work on this site either. strange thing is, there are animations in the pool. what is the trick?

i did it in a slight unconventional way (uploaded the file in antville and copied the file again via scp :-) seriously, there is a problem: acme seems to save uploaded animated gifs as normal gifs (also if no resizing is done), so any animations are lost.

Robert: If you want to save the image as it came, that is without resizing, you should directly save it from the upload, not from the image object you decoded from it. This saves the server some major CPU cycles, keeps the image quality high by avoiding an extra decoding-encoding cycle, and in the case of animated gifs preserves the animation. The uploaded MIME part, for instance req.data.image, has a writeToFile method that takes two string parameters, the directory and the file name. ... comment
