Merged xml_content branch

I just merged the xml_content branch to the main CVS trunk. I made some extensive testing to make sure everything works well, but of course it's possible I messed something up so please check it out.

Some minor notes:

  • When a story or comment is modified, story.cache.modifytime is now set to the current time (while story.modifytime is only set on major updates) to signal that cached content parts should be re-rendered.
  • I managed to fix the problem with setting the createtime of stories we mailed about a few days ago (Tobi and Robert).
  • Robert: I kept the underscore separator for form parameter names because they're used us JavaScript property names sometimes, e.g. when checking if content_text is defined in the parameter object, and this wouldn't be so nice to do with colon separator. I don't mind going with colon though, if you prefer that.

thanks, hns!

looks great. and you're right: underscores are nicer, so let's keep it that way.

two suggestions

first of all, this extended story thang is great! good job, hannes, thanks.

i suggest we keep the title column and property because it's worth to have it as an identifier in both the database and helma.

furthermore, i think the call for story.convertContentToXML() should be moved from story.content_macro() to story.getContentPart() if possible because latter functions needs to be called directly sometimes (it's laborious to create a param object first to be able to call story.content_macro() from within another function).

[maybe we have to do this conversion via scheduler anyway...]

+1 on both

just want to throw in that the title may not be defined (the only thing we require is a "text" content part). Just a thought, don't know if this matters for what you intend to use the title property.

it's about sorting, so an undefined title certainly matters, ie. it has to be treated differently when doing a sort (e.g. by getting the first words of the story text as title just as it is done in the history list).

I disagree

if you sort by title and a story has no title, it should be last or first, depending on whether your sort is ascending or descending.

but what do you display then? if you display the first n characters of the text, it will probably appear unsorted, and displaying [no title] or similar isn't nice too.

no reason to disagree, i did not make myself clear enough. certainly a story without a title will be first or last depending on the sort order. to replace the undefined title i chose to display three dots before the first 30 characters of the story text which to me looks good enough and does not appear as if it was sorted incorrectly. but i guess there are more ways to do it right and nice so don't worry and reveal your ideas here.

ok, didn't think of this solution - that's fine.
