i just noticed that the image manager does actually downsize the pictures. really cool! as a consequence i wanted to change the input form such that the default width of an image is 400. apparently, the this.input macro doesn't have a optional parameter for default (and no "hidden" option, too). but then, i don't really need this macro, do i? i could just create a custom form to fit my need.

what is the idea of these complicated macros, if i could easily get along without them? the same could be said about the prefix and suffix options. why should i use them rather than writing the HTML fragment before or after the macro?

where can i find the skin for a new story? i would like to enable the "is online" checkbox by default or hide this feature completely.

is there a possibility to change the title tag such that it contains the topic of the page? story.name gives an error if the requested page is not a story and this.name is actually weblog.name. i am sure i could completey rewrite the skins and use the elements in a different way (e.g. title tag not in the header, but in story), but is there an easy way?

some observations:

1. i noticed twice that i got redirected to the wrong weblog after the login. this happens occasionally and i have not figured when exactly. this may explain why my mate yam is not a member on eleph, although he signed up.

2. comments with empty topic cannot be accessed through the sidebar.

3. the login screen title tag has a typo.

4. how about stripping white spaces at the end of a story/comment?

I posted some things I would like to try out if I had time under a regrettably stupid URL on gong. I don't think I'll be able to do much these very next days, but maybe you folks feel inspired to pick up or comment upon one thing or another.

why all Antville-generated URLs must point to "/main" instead of just "/"? The hopobject.link macro doesn't generate a link if "to" is empty or not specified.

Update: I fixed this on this site, let me know if I can check it in or if there's indeed a reason for this behaviour.

Update 2: Just for testing, I'm now omitting the "main" in the link function, i.e. linking to "main" will generate a link to "/". Lemme know if this causes any problem for any browser, for example in conjunction with query strings.

it's a collaborative site where members can post stuff and upload images. the easy picture upload is really great. maybe THE key feature of antville compared to others.

have you ever seen average people using the internet? like friends that are not in the internet business? they get loads of mails each day with big attachments. sometimes you cannot mail them, because they are over quota, because 10 of their friends send them the same 2MB "funny" powerpoint presentation. i think of them as the target group.

so what i want build is a simple site. just login, create story and upload image. no macros or something. just two piles. the stories on the homepage like now and images in a sidebar like the modified objects. most of it is here already. i think all i need is a skin for image.main, which will look almost like storie.main.

what do you think?

i'd like to change the way the comments work. i would like to have something like henso, metafilter or the old ndx, i.e. if you press the discuss link you see the original story with all attached comments and at the end there should a form to enter the comment (or a text suggesting the user to login). before i waste my time and mess up my test site i would like to know if i can change this in the skin editor?
