i just deleted a story with comments. looks like i have to delete the comments first. otherwise there will be an error instead of the (not) deleted comments in the "last modified" sidebar.

tonight i was talking with my mate yam about his experience with antville. he said he sign up at our test site (eleph). i wanted to give him admin rights, but for some reason he is not in the members list. i suppose he might have signed up on the main site instead.

however, we figured out that people who are not signed up on one site cannot edit their stories posted on other sites. remember? i complained about being unable to set my story written in the project site online, because there is no edit link. typing the url doesn't work either. i reckon it is because i am not a member here. yam has exactly the same problem on the eleph site. he wrote a story on eleph, but he cannot edit it to set it online.

looks like a conflict between the cookie and the membership data. i guess in one case (when soemone wants to write a story) you only ask if the cookie is present and in the other case (when it comes to editing) you ask if the person is really a member.

how about this? you replace the date of a story that is not online with a big bold text saying "THIS STORY IS NOT ONLINE AND CAN ONLY BE READ BY THE OWNER AND THE ADMIN" or something like this.

i mentioned it before on our site in german, i think the admin should be able to edit and delete stories (and not only comments) written by others. this is essential if i plan something more than one person's weblog. interestingly, manila chooses the complete opposite idea. once a story is approved and posted to the main page it cannot be edited by the normal user, only by the admins. although i've always hated this, it makes sense to prevent people writing bs.

I just added a "recently updated weblogs" macro to this site's frontpage. That's because with the new site name convention, it's become a bit hard to navigate back to the main antville site (should we include a link in the default weblog layout?)

The code for this is quite easy, all you have to do is say this somewhere in your skins or stories: <% root.webloglist %>

i noticed some inconsistencies in the out-of-the-box implementation of the antville-blog. my site works pretty much like this project site, i.e. everyone can join and post. i noticed that the admin can delete comments but not stories or images posted by other users.

a question: what is the "is online" checkbox good for? if unchecked the story also appears on the homepage.

I just switched to a new Hop snapshot and activated the new URL scheme, under which every weblog is situated under weblogalias.antville.org. I also set the cookie-domain to .antville.org, so you only have to login once for all the sites within the antville domain.

Hm, I don't check that into the CVS for now, because it won't work without some Rewrite activity in the Apache configuration. I guess it should be documented in a separate Mini-Howto (How to set up a multi-site Helma-Application or some such). Should. I love that word ;-)

hi, i was reported that there is actually no chance to edit anything after creating a new blog at the moment. i tried it myself and did not get the "create story" or "imagepool" links in the navigation. entering /create in the path returns an error "You're not allowed to add a story to a foreign weblog!".

seems like a bug to me, maybe an effect caused by the recently implemented privilege rules...?
