new weblogs.com scriptin news: blogger, movabletype et al. will support the new weblogs.com. so what about us? will antville do so, too? i'd say yes to another excess.

yes! i think we naturalmente have to support it! and it really sounds easy, no registration, just a "ping" after the changes were made. ... comment

Well ... One problem is we can't ping weblogs.com from within the transaction where the changes are made, because the changes are checked in the db only afterwards, and weblogs.com will immediately (while the RPC call is being processed) fetch the page.

oh i thought there must be something ... question is also how long the ping/fetch-procedure will take, so maybe we should use the scheduler to prevent things slowing down. ... comment

Check this out XML-RPC is infact overkill for this purpose... Although maybe the fact that we have asynchronous XML-RPC would justify using it.

updates of public weblogs at hopdev will now be reported to weblogs.com - i did a quick hack using the ping-via-url method. as far as i can tell, the big disadvantage of this method is that it's slooooow... ... comment
