i'm happy to announce that the first release candidate of Antville 1.0 is now available for download (.tar.gz and .zip).

There's also an updated version 1.0pre5 of Antclick available (.tar.gz and .zip). Those who have Antclick pre4 already running should follow these upgrade instructions.

Together with this i also put an up-to-date version of the application documentation online (you can download it in .tar.gz or .zip format).

Please give it a try. If you find any bugs post them here or - even better - in our bugtracking system. Please also post a short note here if you didn't find any bugs or strange behaviour since this is the only way i can estimate the level of testing pre1 has got. If everything goes well the final release of Antville 1.0 will be out within one week.

Since adele.helma.org is still alive, we need a new name for the new antville.org server. Traditionally, we have been using female names such us coletta or adele. But what do you know, maybe it's time for a gender switch.

The story read counter is off again, this time for good or until the feature is re-implemented. Updating a big and very busy table every few seconds just doesn't work well with MySQL table locking stragegies. Every now and then, an story read counter update statement took too long, blocking all select statements on the table, driving up CPU usage and response times.

I guess the solution would be to use a separate supersimple table for story read counters.

und gibt es eine möglichkeit an meine alten archivdateien zwischen dem 27.9. 2002 und 22.11. 2002 heranzukommen? ich hatte vor einiger zeit den größten teil des 2002 archivs gelöscht, mir allerdings gestern meine sicherungskopien für diesen zeitraum auf der festplatte zerschossen. dummheit gehört vermutlich bestraft.

im sommer hatte henso mir in einem ähnlichen fall den "alten" blogzustand wiederhergestellt. aber ich weiss leider nicht mehr, wann ich die herbstarchive ausgeräumt habe ...
